Indonesia sukses menjadi tuan rumah Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi (KTT) The World Water Forum ke-10 yang digelar di Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), pada 18-24 Mei 2024. Betapa tidak, event ini menyajikan 278 sesi diskusi dan 254 stan dalam fair and expo. Tercatat sebanyak 64.000 orang dari 106 negara berpartisipasi dalam event, antara lain menteri, pejabat tinggi, pejabat organisasi internasional setingkat menteri, dan anggota parlemen berbagai negara. Hadir pula sejumlah kepala negara, yaitu Presiden Indonesia Joko Widodo, Presiden Fiji Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, Presiden Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, Perdana Menteri Maroko Aziz Akhannouch, Perdana Menteri Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda, serta mantan Presiden Hungaria Janos Ader sebagai utusan khusus. Dalam pembukaan acara, Presiden Republik Indonesia Joko Widodo memaknai tema "Water for Shared Prosperity” (Air bagi Kemakmuran Bersama) yang diusung World Water Forum 2024 itu menjadi beberapa prinsip dasar. Yaitu, menghindari persaingan dan mendorong pemerataan; mengedepankan kerja sama inklusif termasuk penggunaan teknologi dan pembiayaan inovatif; serta menyokong perdamaian dan kemakmuran bersama. Menurut Presiden, ketiga hal ini hanya bisa terwujud dengan sebuah kata kunci, yaitu kolaborasi. (SDA KemenPUPR, 2024).
World Water Forum adalah forum internasional sektor air yang melibatkan berbagai pemangku kepentingan dunia. Event ini diadakan oleh World Water Council (WWC) atau Dewan Air Dunia. Dengan kata lain, World Water Forum menjadi pertemuan internasional terbesar yang membahas tentang isu-isu air secara global. Khususnya membahas sekaligus merumuskan kebijakan tata kelola air dan sanitasi dunia.
Pertama kali World Water Forum digelar pada 1997. Saat itu Kota Marrakesh, Maroko, terpilih menjadi tuan rumah (host country) untuk pertama kalinya. Berikutnya dilaksanakan di Den Haag, Belanda (2000), Jepang (2003), Meksiko (2006), Istanbul, Turki (2009), Marseille, Prancis (2012), Korea Selatan (2015), Brazil (2018), Senegal (2022), dan terakhir, Bali, Indonesia (2024). Indonesia menjadi negara pertama di Asia Tenggara yang dipercaya menjadi tuan rumah World Water Forum ke-10. (Kemenparekraf, 2024)

Event ini bukan sekadar konferensi tingkat tinggi: melainkan juga mencakup fase persiapan selama tiga tahun (fase persiapan), gelaran acara selama satu minggu (fase acara), dan presentasi hasil (fase sintesis) dengan dukungan berkelanjutan untuk aksi kolektif. KTT World Water Forum biasanya dihadiri oleh para kepala negara, pimpinan organisasi internasional, pejabat tinggi pemerintah, pakar/ahli, cendekiawan, wirausahawan, dan ekonom dari seluruh dunia akan berbagi pengetahuan, pengalaman, dan praktik mengenai berbagai hal dan topik yang berhubungan dengan air. KTT World Water Forum ke-10 di Bali menghasilkan kesepakatan bersejarah dan dinilai sebagai kemenangan diplomasi (diplomatic victory) karena memberikan hasil konkret dan arah jelas di tengah tantangan global. Pertama kalinya dalam sejarah World Water Forum, Deklarasi Menteri memasukkan Compendium of Concrete Deliverables and Actions, atau Ringkasan Hasil-Hasil dan Tindakan, yang mencakup 113 proyek air dan sanitasi senilai USD9,4 miliar dengan 33 negara dan 53 organisasi internasional sebagai pendukung, donor, serta penerima manfaat air dan sanitasi. Terdapat 16 poin kesepakatan dalam Deklarasi Menteri (Ministerial Declaration). Namun, tiga poin yang dinilai paling penting adalah sebagai berikut:
KTT World Water Forum ke-10 ditutup oleh Menteri Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono pada Jumat, 24 Mei 2024. Menurut Menteri PUPR, terkait 113 proyek yang tercantum dalam Compendium of Concrete Deliverables, untuk Indonesia antara lain terdapat proyek percepatan penyediaan air minum bagi 3 juta rumah tangga dan proyek pengelolaan air limbah domestik bagi 300.000 rumah tangga. Indonesia successfully hosted the 10th World Water Forum High Level Conference (KTT) which was held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), on 18-24 May 2024. This event presented 278 discussion sessions and 254 booths in fair and expo. It was known that 64,000 people from 106 countries participated in the event, including ministers, high-ranking officials, international organization officials at ministerial level, and members of parliament from various countries. Also present were heads of state: Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Fiji President Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, Tajikistan Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda, and former Hungarian President Janos Ader as special envoy. In opening the event, President Joko Widodo interpreted the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity" promoted by the World Water Forum 2024 into several basic principles. They are: avoiding competition and encouraging equality; prioritizing inclusive cooperation including the use of technology and innovative financing; and supporting peace and shared prosperity. According to the President, these three things can only be realized with single keyword known as: collaboration. (SDA KemenPUPR, 2024).
World Water Forum is an international water sector forum involving various world stakeholders. This event is held by the World Water Council (WWC). In other words, the World Water Forum is the largest international meeting to discuss water issues globally. In particular, discussing and formulating world water and sanitation management policies.
The first World Water Forum held was in 1997. At that time, the city of Marrakesh, Morocco, was chosen to be the host country for the first time. Next, it was held in The Hague, Netherlands (2000), then Japan (2003), Mexico (2006), Istanbul, Turkey (2009), Marseille, France (2012), South Korea (2015), Brazil (2018), Senegal (2022), and finally Bali, Indonesia (2024). Indonesia is the first country in Southeast Asia to be trusted to host the 10th World Water Forum. (Kemenparekraf, 2024)

This event is not just a high-level conference: it also includes a three-year preparation phase (preparation phase), a week-long event (event phase), and presentation of results (synthesis phase) with ongoing support for collective action. The World Water Forum Summit is usually attended by heads of state, heads of international organizations, high-ranking government officials, experts/experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and economists from all over the world who will share knowledge, experiences and practices on various matters and topics related to water. The 10th World Water Forum Summit in Bali resulted in a historic agreement and was considered a diplomatic victory since it provided concrete results and clear direction in the midst of global challenges. For the first time in the history of the World Water Forum, the Ministerial Declaration included a Compendium of Concrete Deliverables and Actions, or Summary of Results and Actions, covering 113 water and sanitation projects worth USD 9.4 billion with 33 countries and 53 international organizations as supporters, donors, as well as water and sanitation beneficiaries. There are 16 points of agreement in the Ministerial Declaration. However, the three points that are considered the most important are as follows:
The 10th World Water Forum Summit was closed by the Minister of Public Works and Housings Basuki Hadimuljono on Friday, May 24 2024. According to the Minister of PUPR, regarding the 113 projects listed in the Compendium of Concrete Deliverables, for Indonesia there are, among others, projects to accelerate the supply drinking water for 3 million households and domestic wastewater management projects for 300,000 households.
